Who We Are
East Coast Components is a wood truss manufacturer serving the residential, commercial and agricultural industries within the Southeast region—including the states of South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia and Virginia. In addition to trusses, we also manufacture turn-key framing and Engineered Wood Product (EWP) i-joists and LVLs to serve the ever-growing construction industry.
With strong roots in the construction industry that go back over two decades, we at East Coast Components understand the challenges and opportunities that come with the building and manufacturing trades. With decades of experience among our team members, and a growing customer base of commercial and agricultural builders, we know first-hand that finding quality construction products in a timely manner can mean the difference between getting the job done and getting the job done well. That’s why, no matter how competitive pricing becomes, what the markets shift to, or how the supply chains change, the quality of our work will never change, and will never be an afterthought—no matter how big or how small the project may be.
Beyond the walls of our company, we are proud to be a South Carolina manufacturing business, and a leader within the local manufacturing community. In the past few years, we have had incredible opportunities to work alongside other great companies in the same space, partnering with such companies as 84 Lumber, Crescent Homes, David Weekly Homes, Ivey Homes, Homes by Dickerson, and Cimmaron Homes to help shape the manufacturing industry. We are also pleased to be a vocal advocate of a strong manufacturing workforce in the state, and by maintaining the facility in Lee County, East Coast Components is bringing new industry and business to one of South Carolina’s most economically challenged counties, striving to become more innovative as they encourage education and bring new jobs to Bishopville.
Our History
In the early 1990s, When Larry S. Earls needed wooden roof trusses for his construction company, he realized that getting the supplies he needed on a timely basis was becoming a challenge. Even though the building industry was booming at that time, Larry, who built agricultural buildings and houses, could not get what he needed to keep his construction company moving at the pace he needed to.
So, in 1995, Earls founded Agtruss, Inc. in Bishopville, SC, in order to fill the gap he was facing with other manufacturers and providers. While initially his main goal was to create a supply line for his own needs, it wasn’t long before other agricultural builders began purchasing trusses from Agtruss as well. For the 13 years following, Agtruss, Inc. filled a vital need in the industry, and even through the 2008 recession, when building began to falter. Still, the company thrived with its focus on agricultural builders. Then, in October 2020, the company was purchased and re-branded under the name of East Coast Components, Inc.
In 2021, East Coast Components announced an expansion to their Bishopville facility, creating six new jobs with a $500,000 investment into the project. With that growth, the company hoped to further confirm Lee County as a prime area for industrial growth and position the area as a logistical superpower within the state.
Today, East Coast Components has a cumulative seventy-five plus years of experience in both the business and truss industry among its staff, and while they still supply wooden trusses for the agricultural industry—to be used for poultry houses, pole barns, sheds, or other projects—it has also opened the door to both residential and commercial industry, and has become a provider and manufacturer of engineered wood products (EWP)—including i-joists and LVLs, as well as turn-key framing.
